This one hits different this year.

Three days ago, (March 1st) I lost my big sister to cancer. She was an incredible warrior. For 25 years she fought with everything she had. She beat breast cancer twice, but in the end she battled bone and brain cancer with the same courage and determination she always had.

As her “lil bro” — or Kevie, as she called me — she always looked out for me growing up. She was nine years older, and one of our running family jokes was that I was her “human dress-up doll.” She loved to dress me up when we were kids. Those memories will always make me smile.

Cancer sucks.

For the past 16 years, I’ve ridden 100 miles in Pelotonia each year to raise money for cancer research. Because of the generosity of many of you, I’ve raised $56,000 along the way.

But this year is different. This ride is personal in a way it never has been before.

Pelotonia is special because 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research. In 17 years, the Pelotonia community has raised $339 million, with over 12,000 riders participating last year alone.

This year I’m riding again.
And this time, I’m riding for my sister. She believed in the Pelotonia cause and always supported my ride. Pink was not her color green was.

Enough is enough.

I ride for those who can’t. No sore legs, sore butt, or exhaustion can compare to what my sister — and millions of others — have endured battling this horrible disease.

Cancer took my mom.
Cancer took my sister.
Cancer took my Mother in Law
And it has taken the lives of far too many friends, family members, and people I’ve never even met.

If you’re able, I would truly welcome your support. No donation is too small. Every dollar matters, and every dollar helps move us closer to a cure.

This year, I am riding on COPC (Central Ohio Primary Care). I am a High Roller. I ride for all those individuals that have not yet been diagnosed. I ride so that one day my nieces, nephews, friends and EVERYONE will live in a world where there is a cure. I ride because I still can! 100% of all donations goes towards the Ohio State University-James Cancer Research Center. Their research does not just impact Central Ohio but impacts the entire cancer community as their research and solutions that they make changes things for everybody world-wide! Since Ploutonia’s inception, bike riders, virtual riders, donors and volunteers have pursued ONE GOAL and their efforts have raised over $339 million dollars for innovative cancer research.

You can learn more about the groundbreaking impact that you are making enabling, not just in Columbus, Ohio, but across the country by visiting http://pelotonia.org/impact/

I appreciate your support and helping me raise money to kick cancer's butt!!!! #onegoal, #greatestteamever
